Samsung today announced a modified variant of the Galaxy Note 4 with LTE-Advanced Tri-Band Carrier Aggregation support. This is the first commercially available smartphone to feature Tri-Band Carrier Aggregation, which allows it to provide a maximum theoretical download speed of up to 300Mbps. The LTE-A Tri-Band CA certified Galaxy Note 4 will receive three different frequency bands and can combine them into one to offer a maximum download speed of up to 300Mbps. This is sufficient to download a 700MB movie in only 19 seconds. Obviously, the feature needs to be supported by the carrier as well. Samsung also states in its announcement that this new variant of the Galaxy Note 4 will support LTE-A Cat. 9 networks — with a maximum download speed of up to 450Mbps — sometime in 2015. However, the company did not reveal which processor or modem this new variant of the Galaxy Note 4 is using.
