After launching Samsung Pay in China, Spain, Brazil, and Russia, Samsung has now expanded Samsung Pay to Thailand. The company had first announced its intention of bringing Samsung Pay to Thailand in October last year, with a limited-access trial run going on in the market since then.
Samsung says that its strategy to launch Samsung Pa in Thailand is in line with the government’s move towards a shift to a cashless society. At launch, Samsung Pay in Thailand is supported by MasterCard, Visa, KCC, Bangkok Bank, Citibank, KasikornBank, KTC, and Siam Commercial Bank, with many departmental stores and shops also supporting the payment service. Since Samsung Pay features MST, it works with non-NFC based PoS terminals as well. In addition, Samsung Pay will also support gift cards from Galaxy and MasterCard, along with support for a wide variety of membership cards. Samsung Pay is compatible with high-end Samsung devices like the Galaxy S7, S7 edge, Galaxy Note 5, and Galaxy S6/S6 edge.
