To meet the increasing demand for the Galaxy S6 edge, Samsung’s Display unit has opened its third factory to manufacture more curved displays for the handset. By adding this third production line — known as A3, internally — Samsung Display will be able to increase the output of its curved display to nearly 5 million units. The two production lines of the company currently produce around 2 million units of its curved display. The Korean company had originally intended to use the factory sometime in June, but the high demand for the Galaxy S6 edge forced it to start the production line earlier than intended. This new factory is located near to one of its existing production line, which is situated somewhere near south of Seoul. Samsung’s Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge have been a runaway success for the company, with the demand for the latter beating the company’s expectations and comprising nearly 50 percent of the total order of its flagship handset.
