As we reported yesterday, US Cellular and T-Mobile have started taking pre-orders for the Galaxy S5 in the United States. The handset will set users back by $199 on a two-year contract for the 16GB variant. AT&T users can also purchase the phone outright from the carrier for $649.99 or use the company’s Next plan to pay $25 for the next 24 months. Both carriers will be offering the handset only in black and white colors with no mention about the gold and blue ones....

More than a month after their international release, Samsung has launched the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ in China. To make up for the delay, Samsung will be selling a premium variant of the Galaxy S8+ in China with 6GB RAM and 128GB of storage. The Galaxy S8 has been priced at 5,688 yuan ($825), while the Galaxy S8+ is priced at 6,188 yuan ($900). The S8+ variant with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage has been priced at 6,988 yuan ($1015)....

The new Samsung Galaxy Watch comes with a 1.2-inch or 1.1-inch OLED screen which has a layer of Gorilla DX+ glass and the company’s signature rotating bezel for navigating around the interface. In addition, Samsung claims it’s running on a customized chipset which allows for a “several-day” battery life, over 45 hours in the case of the 42mm option and 80+ hours on the 46mm model. The watch is water resistant too and has an exterior that’s rated for military-grade durability....

There is still no official name for the phone; rumors said that the South Korean giant would call its first foldable smartphone “Galaxy F or Galaxy Flex”. The new smartphone of Samsung has two screens: when closed, we can use the External Cover Display with the benefits of an ordinary smartphone. When opened, we can find the foldable screen of 7.3 inches, that will work as a tablet. The South Korean giant Samsung mentions a feature called “continuity”: if you are using a smaller screen application and open the device, it will automatically open on the larger screen....

Earlier today, Samsung launched its first Tizen smartphone, the Samsung Z (notice the lack of “Galaxy” in its title). Tizen, the in-house operating system developed by Samsung and Intel, has been long coming to the company’s successful smartphone division, after showing on its Gear smartwatches and some of its cameras. The first Tizen smartphone was rumored for 2013, but the Z almost took an entire additional year to make its way to the public....

This follows a similar announcement by Apple late last year. Samsung’s program will kick off this summer with Samsung’s most popular models, the Galaxy S20 and S21 family of products, and the Galaxy Tab S7+. However, the company plans to expand self-repair to more devices in the future. Samsung will make available display assemblies, back glass, and charging ports, as well as the tools and know-how that owners will need to carry out the repairs....

Recently, Samsung filed a trademark with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) that suggests the company could have another flagship coming down the pipe, this time inspired by the Galaxy S6 edge. The trademark filing in the United States from Samsung indicates that Samsung wants to make sure the “S6 edge+” title can’t be used by any other company, and hints that the device, at least if the name is any indicator, could feature a larger display than the current Galaxy S6 edge boasts....

Samsung’s upcoming midrange devices, the Galaxy On5 and Galaxy On7, have both passed through China’s regulatory authority TEENA for certification hinting at their impending launch. The Galaxy On5 comes equipped with a 5-inch screen with a resolution of 720 x 1280 resolution. The device is powered by a Snapdragon 617 chipset which is an octa-core chip running at 1.5 GHz and an Adreno 405 GPU. It also packs in 3GB of RAM along with 32GB of expandable storage....

This wearable device could excellently control the camera via their own blinking patterns and then transmits the captured information back into the smartphone. The contact lens could be meant as a replacement for smart glasses like Google Glass which was eliminated from sale in 2015 due to worst image quality. Since then, Google has been working on redesigning it including the ones without a screen. Contact Lens will have advantage over smart glass because the images will get straightly projected into the eyeball through lens which would be slightly of higher quality than those transposed onto an external screen....

Today the company is announcing that they’re going to go behind Google’s back and start accepting PayPal for content purchased from the Samsung hub. In case you haven’t heard of Google Wallet, that’s the search giant’s attempt at overtaking PayPal. Yes, Google has done a horrible job at actually competing with PayPal, but that doesn’t mean they like it if their biggest partner goes ahead and partners with one of their fiercest competitors....

The Samsung Gear Fit 2 now sports a 1.5-inch super AMOLED display which looks bright and crisp, the data is displayed in a vertical fashion. Samsung claims that it has worked to increase the viewing angles thus ensuring best visibility at outdoors and at different angles. The Gear Fit 2 comes with the step counter, heart rate sensor, calories and like most of the fitness bands it can also detect the kind of activity you are doing....

Now that Samsung has officially recalled the Galaxy Note 7 for the last time, ended sales, and discontinued the phone, the only thing left to do at this point is to return the device. For the folks that can only return their handset by mail, Samsung has, what some might call, an elaborate return packaging setup. Samsung is not a stranger to releasing developer edition devices, especially for Verizon, and now it looks like they’re preparing to release yet another model. A new page for a Developer Edition Galaxy Note 4 from Samsung has surfaced, as originally reported by Droid-Life. As is usually the case, the Galaxy Note 4 Developer Edition shares the same specifications as the regular Galaxy Note 4, but this one will likely boast a bootloader that is easier to unlock, for those who love to tinker with their Android-based devices....

Samsung today launched the Galaxy Note 7, its much-anticipated successor to the Galaxy Note 5 and its next big Galaxy. The handset takes strongly from the Galaxy S7 edge, but comes with the usual suite of Note features that have been improved further this time around. Samsung isn’t a strange to special editions of its handsets, and the Galaxy S7 edge –the company’s latest flagship– is already getting the full treatment. Now that Apple has debuted the iPhone X with Face ID, all major smartphones launching next year will also feature some kind of facial recognition. Samsung already includes face recognition and iris scanning on the Galaxy S8 and Note 8, but the speed and security of the scanners leave a lot to be desired. A report from Korean website claims that Samsung is now looking to improve the speed of facial and iris scanning on the Galaxy S9 — its flagship smartphone for 2018....

Today, we get our first look of the Gear, thanks to the folks over at Venture Beat. The Venture Beat writer managed to see one of the Gear prototypes sent to developers along with some promotional marketing materials. The source confirms what we had heard about the smart watch before including 10-hours of battery life, a 4MP camera, and speakers in its clasp! In addition to the above, the Gear will have a power button on its side, inbuilt Wi-Fi for internet access, a photo gallery, Samsung S Voice for voice commands, some health tracking apps and Facebook/Twitter integration....
