Thanks to the success of the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+, high demand for its AMOLED panels and NAND chips, Samsung is expecting to record its highest-ever profit in Q2, 2017. As per the earnings guidance issued by the Korean company today, it expects to make a profit of $12.1 billion (14 trillion won) on revenues of $52 billion (60 trillion won). That’s a whopping 72 percent increase in profit, with revenues going up by 18 percent on a yearly basis....
The folks at Samsung have reportedly struck great results on their research with the “wonder material” which could revolutionize the future of smartphones. The material used here is graphene and it is said that the Korean manufacturer has found a way to implement it in a way that would make smartphones substantially thinner than we see today and with 100 times faster internet speeds. The South Korean tech giant said its 3nm process, compared to its 5nm process, reduced power usage by 45% and improved performance by 23% with surface area reduced by 16%. Samsung’s 3nm process node uses its gate-all-around (GAA) transistor architecture, called Multi-Bridge-Channel FET (MBCFET) by the company, which packs wider channels in gates for electricity to flow threw while reducing the voltage level compared to the previous FinFET transistor architecture....

Yesterday, Samsung announced its first metal-clad smartphone — the Galaxy Alpha. The compact powerhouse comes with a new Octa-core Exynos chip — branded the Exynos 5430 — details of which were just revealed by Samsung. The Exynos 5430 is the first chip in the world to be built on Samsung’s 20nm HMKG fabrication process. The company states that a shift to a lower process node in itself allows for nearly 25% reduction in the power consumption of the chipset....
Up to this point, Samsung has been a bit off-hand when it comes to showing off the folding action of the upcoming Galaxy Fold, the company’s first foldable smartphone. So while the company certainly showed off the handset folding and opening at its big unveiling, there weren’t any hands-on impressions of the device then. And there aren’t any now. The handset is scheduled to arrive in April, so that may start to change soon....

Less than a week after launching Samsung Pay in Singapore, Samsung has expanded its mobile payment service to Australia. Earlier in June, Samsung had launched Samsung Pay in Spain, making it the first European country where its contactless payment service was available. Apple has already launched Apple Pay, its mobile payment service, in Australia a few months ago. However, Samsung Pay has one huge advantage over the former: it works with non-NFC/traditional PoS machines as well thanks to its MST technology....
