The Samsung Galaxy Note 7 fiasco not only led the company to lose billions of dollars and consumer faith, but it has also resulted in it losing its number one position in the smartphone market. While Apple sold 78.3 million iPhone units, Samsung sold 800,000 fewer units at 77.5 million thereby making Apple the market leader for the final quarter of 2016. Apple’s strong performance can be attributed to the company launching the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus and pushing it aggressively through various promotions....

Almost a month ago, Samsung rolled out Bixby Voice support — its own voice assistant — for Galaxy S8 and S8+ owners in the US. Now, it looks like the company is working on finally launching its voice assistant globally. Even before the Galaxy S8 launched, there was a lot of hype surrounding Bixby. Samsung did not help things either by including a dedicated physical key on the Galaxy S8 to launch Bixby which even months after the phone’s release is hardly of any use....

Just a few hours after detailed 3D renders of the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus leaked, a live photo of the Galaxy S8 has leaked online. The leaked photo shows the bottom half of the phone including the impressively thin bottom bezel. The photo confirms that the 3.5mm jack, USB-C port, and the mono speaker reside at the bottom of the Galaxy S8 between the two antenna lines. Interestingly, while the display on the handset is on with some Chinese content being displayed, the on-screen navigation keys are nowhere to be seen....

Samsung will likely announce its next flagship, the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+, at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona next year. While a report from Korea claims the announcement will take place on February 27, a more plausible date seems to be February 26th. While MWC 2018 officially starts from February 26th, all major press announcements will take place a day before (i.e. on February 25th, Sunday). So, it is more than likely that we will see Samsung unveil the Galaxy S9 on February 25th rather than on Feb....

A report from Re/code claims that Samsung paid about $250 million to acquire LoopPay. The Korean company had acquired the payment startup earlier this year before it unveiling its flagship handset for 2015 — the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge. After acquiring LoopPay, Samsung has used the technology from the startup for its own Samsung Pay mobile payment system. The service is due to be launched in the second half of this year in the United States and South Korea, with the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge being the first devices to support it....

As the report states that Samsung including its display manufacturing unit, Samsung Display has joined hands with numerous manufacturers to implement the idea of a foldable smartphone and make it a reality. The South Korean giant, Samsung has been working on a technology to develop smartphones with foldable displays since the past three years. The report quotes that it could change into a 5-inch smartphone when folded or can become a 7-inch tablet when opened....

Photos of an ‘Active’ version of the Galaxy S6 have made their way to the Internet thanks to a tip received by GSMArena. Samsung is known to launch rugged and active versions of its flagship handset down the line, so the leaked images of the Galaxy S6 active should not really come as a surprise. The images show a less prettier and more rugged version of the Galaxy S6 with hardware navigation buttons, a plastic black cover and a thick plastic shell surrounding the whole device....

Samsung has confirmed to Reuters that it will not be launching the Galaxy S8 at MWC in Barcelona this year as per the company’s mobile chief Koh Dong-jin. Samsung has usually unveiled its flagship Galaxy S handset at MWC for the last few years, but the company has decided to defer the launch of the handset this year. Samsung’s mobile chief Koh Dong-jin, however, did not provide any timeframe as to when the handset would be unveiled by the Korean company....

Samsung’s Galaxy Tab S lineup has been getting upgrades on a semi-regular basis, and rumors have it that a new device under the brand will see the light of day soon. Naver News is reporting that Samsung plans on unveiling the Galaxy Tab S3 at this year’s Mobile World Congress event, and that it will be priced at $600 when it launches later this year. The report states that the new tablet could launch in South Korea sometime in March, but there’s no word on when an international launch may occur....

Samsung is trying to make smartphones with foldable display mainstream. The company has multiple lineups of foldable smartphones and is also said to be working on foldable tablets. One of the biggest concerns with foldable devices (apart from durability) is the hefty price tag. However, this could change as Samsung is rumored to make Galaxy Z Fold3 and Z Flip3 up to 20% cheaper than its predecessor. Previously, Samsung had slashed the price of Galaxy Z Fold2 by ten percent....

Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo The Gear 2 is the actual successor to the original Galaxy Gear and is lighter and thinner. It is, however, slightly taller because the camera has been embedded in the main body rather than the strap. The plus side to this modification is that it will allow Gear 2 users to interchange the strap, unlike its predecessor. Samsung has officially called a global recall for the Galaxy Note 7, the company’s latest flagship phablet. As a result, getting exchanges out to customers is of vital importance. While the major U.S. carriers have already established that they’ll be providing their own exchanges or refunds, Samsung is going a step further by announcing its own product exchange program in the United States. The Gear 360 is a tiny spherical camera made up of double lens and capable of shooting 360-Degree photos and videos. If observed carefully, you might notice that the camera is flat at the bottom so that it can rest on the flat surfaces and it also latches in to a standard tripod mount.
