Every year at IFA, Samsung unveils a new variant of the Galaxy Note, which then goes on to sell millions of units in the following months. With just a little over three months left for the Galaxy Note 4, details about the phablet have started emerging on the Internet. According to the folks over at SamMobile, the Galaxy Note 4 will be available in two hardware variants — one with a Snapdragon 805 processor for the US, Korean and Chinese markets, and the second Exynos 5433 powered variant, which will be available in Europe and other parts of the world....

Earlier this year, Samsung launched the Galaxy S20 and S20 Ultra. Since the launch, the Galaxy S20 Ultra was riddled with a bunch of problems. Samsung issued updates to fix the issue. Now yet another issue has raised its ugly head on Galaxy S20 and Note 20 Ultra. Both the devices are facing charging issues after the latest update. Many users have reported that wireless charging disconnects automatically now and then....

Because three is always better than two, Samsung has unveiled another wearable smartwatch — the Gear Fit. Unlike the other two smart watches though, the Fit is well…umm a fitness tracker packing some comprehensive fitness tools. The Gear Fit comes with a 1.84-inch curved super AMOLED display, Bluetooth 4.0, an interchangeable strap, and is dust and water resistant. Other features include an accelerometer, gyroscope, heart monitor and a 210 mAh battery, which Samsung states should be good enough for two to three days....

It might not be officially released by Samsung but by its startup accelerator, and yet, Terrain is perpetuating the company’s bad reputation of copying ideas instead of innovating. With one dose of Action Launcher, another of Aviate, some Blinkfeed, and a pinch of Google Now launcher, Terrain tries to rethink the launcher, the widgets, and the app drawer, all while not really succeeding at anything. I’m not going to hide my discontent at this new launcher....

Samsung today officially announced its latest mobile chipset, the Exynos 9 Series 8895. Based on the company’s 10nm FinFET node, the chipset also comes with an embedded gigabit LTE modem that is capable of 1Gbps downlink speeds and 150Mbps uplink. Samsung says the move to 10nm node has allowed for a 27 percent increase in performance or 40 percent lower power consumption when compared to its predecessor that was fabricated on the 14nm node....

Google Assistant is a wildly required feature for wearables, and recently, Samsung Galaxy Watch4 has been glimpsed to adding Google Assistant, which is spotted by 9to5Google, in the Verizon update logs. The South Korean giant Samsung, which has so far been resilient to this new approach, looks like it will eventually join the club and not with one, not with two but 3 models with notch. Samsung today announced that the Galaxy Note Pro and Tab Pro 12.2, 10.1 and 8.4 are available for preorder, and will ship out in the United States on February 13. Both tablets will be offered at slew of retailers throughout the country.The Tab Pro is the device that will be offered in stores beginning February 13, while the Note Pro is expected to be available sometime in March. The Galaxy Note Pro and Tab Pro series tablets will be available in two color options, black and white....

Samsung has just announced the arrival of the Galaxy S5 in India at a dedicated event held earlier today. A new report has revealed that the Galaxy S5 will go up for preorder in the UK on the 28th of March, exactly two weeks before it is officially on sale — April 11. This preorder will allow customers to reserve a unit when the Samsung flagship officially hits the markets, thus making them one of the first to own it. Pricing details will be disclosed then, but speculations have suggested that the Galaxy S5 could cost £500 or £600 off contract, indicating that your wallets could take a beating to get one of these....

As expected, Samsung unveiled its much-awaited foldable smartphone—the Galaxy Z Flip—at its Unpacked 2020 event today. It is the second foldable-screen phone from the brand, with the first being the Galaxy Fold. The Galaxy Z Flip, as its name suggests, has a flip (clamshell) form factor. The sources of SamMobile claim that Samsung is working on an Android tablet with a gigantic 18.4-inch display. The company is targeting this tablet for use in schools, living rooms, offices and other such setups. The 18.4-inch tablet will feature an LCD screen with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 and will be powered by an octa-core Exynos 7580 chipset clocked at 1.6GHz. It will also come with 2GB RAM, 32GB internal storage, a microSD card slot, and a 5,700mAh battery....

Samsung has launched a special upgrade program in South Korea, its home market, where it will be offering customers who ‘downgrade’ to the Galaxy S7 or S7 edge from their recalled Galaxy Note 7 a discount when they purchase the Galaxy S8 or Galaxy Note 8 next year. A Samsung spokesperson said that this upgrade program from the company is aimed at “lightening the burden” on frustrated and disappointed Galaxy Note 7 owners....

While technically not an Android related story, the following news item is still significant. Samsung has just announced that they’ve begun mass producing “128-gigabit, 3bit multi-level-cell NAND memory chips using 10 nanometer (nm)-class process technology”. Yes, I know there’s a difference between gigabits and gigabytes. Memory chips are normally stacked, eight at a time, to produce a useful product. So what happens when you stack eight 128 Gb chips on top of each other?...
